Privacy
Cedar is made by Middledott Technologies. You use it without an account, and it has no analytics or crash reporting.
The update check
Once a day, Cedar asks cedarfiles.middledott.com whether a new version is out. The request includes your IP address and the app’s name and version, for example “Cedar/0.2.1 Sparkle/2.10”. We don’t keep a record of these checks. Cloudflare, which hosts the site, sees the request to answer it.
To stop the daily check, switch off “Check for updates automatically” in Settings and use Check for Updates in the Cedar menu when you want one.
Your files
Cedar opens and edits files where they are on your Mac. It only sends a file somewhere when you move it there yourself, for example to an SFTP server or an S3 bucket you added. The passwords for those servers stay in your Mac’s Keychain.
This website
Its scripts, fonts and images all come from cedarfiles.middledott.com, and so does the download.
